PAIN
what is chronic pain?
Pain is a normal sensation which tells your brain that something is wrong in the body, and that you should seek medical attention. The cause of the symptom oftentimes needs further treatment, like for example in the case of an ear infection, a broken bone, or a burn...
In other cases, if a pain continues to bother you for months, you may have a chronic pain condition which develops from a symptom to a disease in itself. It is often associated with other conditions such as depression, anxiety, stress, fatigue, loss of appetite and sleep disturbance.
what kind of treatment can one use?
I use a variety of injections, either epidurals, or peripheral nerve blocks such as suprascapular nerve blocks, paravertebral nerve blocks and other nerve blocks.
For muscular pain, I use either triggerpoint injections, or dry needling/IMS (intra-muscular stimulation).
I use a wide range of medication such as nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAIDs), medication against neuropathic pain, and a variety of opioids. I also use medical hypnosis.
